Reader is asking for help.... May I ask you and your readers for help? I have an almost 3 year old that still sleeps in bed with us. Let me explain. For a year between 1yr and 2yrs old he was very sick. He kept ear infections non-stop, continuous vomiting and diarrhea, as well as spontaneous rashes. During this time, as you can imagine he was getting up numerous an times a night. I was only getting a couple hours of sleep at night and I have 2 older children (one with type 1 diabetes, the other with moderate severe asthma and my husband was in the field). We both got more sleep by the ease of changing, cleaning up, and giving medicine with him already with me. (The doctors had no explanation for any of this, he was in constantly for antibiotics and testing etc. We recently found out that apparently he suffered hearing loss during this time. He is hearing now but his speech is greatly delayed. He is not even at an 18 month level.) Back to the point, after all this time he has gotten use to sleeping with us, and I personally dont believe its just sleeping with mommy and daddy but also the security from being sick for so long and mommy and daddy are there. So I need help, besides his speech and still an occasional ear infection he is pretty healthy. We have been trying for the last 6 months or so to get him back in a bed by himself. Sometimes we have even tried to get his to sleep with our 7yrs old for the comfort with no luck. I need help/ideas. Thank you in advance!
