Reader question: School has only been in session for a week and we already have a crazy kindergarten mom. This is my first time having a child in school too, but I am trying to keep it all in perspective. She is campaigning to be room mother. (I dont think theres a vote...) And has already appointed herself in charge of basically the universe. All of this is fine, except she is always around! Bragging about her son, and who she knows, and trying to find every in that will make her feel more important. I am really trying to not let it bother me, but for some reason it is. Its not my nature to say anything to her, and I can tell shes turning off the other parents too. But I keep getting this little feeling that my own son will be lost in the shuffle if I dont make him stand out in some way. Is that just my own reaction to her being over the top? Im not looking for advice to confront her -- I would just like to hear ways to cope with her. Im sure Im not the first to deal with an over-do-it PTO mom. Thanks so much for letting me vent / giving me advice!
