Reading Food Labels Over the last couple of weeks I have spent time in local clients pantries (happy dance!) I busted out my glasses and went to reading EVERY. SINGLE. LABEL. What were the things I was looking for? Here are 5 things I was looking to eliminate right away. 1) Anything labeled “diet” – this is a sure sign that there is probably artificial ingredient in the list. 2) Hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, such as vegetable or canola oil, margarine, etc. These do serious damage at the cellular level of the body. 3) Artificial Sweeteners: aspartame, nutrasweet, equal, sucralose, sorbitol, and acesulfame-k. 4) Artificial Colors and Flavors – these unnatural colors and flavors can contain upwards of 50 ingredients themselves but we don’t get to see what they are. 5) High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFSC) – this creates hormone confusion in the body between leptin and gherlin. Thats just one of the bigger things it does. Go through you pantry and turn over those boxes and cans and really SEE what you are eating. You might be surprised at places where these ingredients show up.
