Reading Jesuit documents about their lives trying to settle and convert peoples of Huron, Iroquois, and other indigenous peoples of the northeast part of what some people may call Canada. Came across a great response from an indigenous person to a priest asking questions about what happens to their souls and the souls of animals and objects once they begin their journey to the village beyond the land where the sun sets. I am considering to add it to my stock responses after similar questioning at conference presentations: Be silent, thou has no sense; thou ask eat things which thou dost not know thyself; if I had ever been in yonder country [or insert correct context], I would answer thee.
