Reading a post on one of my fave fitness blogs has given me the freedom to speak on something that has happened rather frequently. When I make posts about my daily workouts, I often have people directly contacting me to offer weight loss advice or inquire how much weight I am trying to lose. Ive also had women feel comfortable enough to ask me similar questions in person. I can only laugh at the naked assumptions. Everyone working out isnt trying to lose weight. Your evaluation of my ideal body weight isnt fact; its merely your opinion. Believe it or not, our standards of beauty are not one and the same. My ample thighs and butt are not some misfortune to be blamed on genetics or poor habits; in point of fact, I prize them. You look at the likes of Twiggy, Kate Moss or some latter day version as the standard, idolizing their waif thin frames and rejoicing in the fact that you werent excluded in Lulu Lemons public assertion that their clothes were only made for certain body types (read between the lines). I (on the other hand) dont count calories and I will not sacrifice taste for a smaller size. At size 8, 10, or 12 (which Ive seen at some point or another and sometimes within the same year), I feel as beautiful as my mother and father delivered me to the world. Your standards say I should be be 140, while I love what I see at 170. No matter the numbers on my scale, feeling good trumps your standard of looking good. Now I realize that it may come as a shock that I dont aspire to your standards, but in the final analysis your fat is my fit and Ill be that.
