Ready for a One Time at Band Camp story? Dripping Springs HS Band, Band Camp, day 1, 2014. Winds music rehearsal. Kids are on stage, Head Band Director, Keith Lancaster about half way up in the audience with a mike. Kids doing great, very responsive doing warmup exercises. I notice a stranger walks in and sits on the first row. Seems to be digging what and how the kids are really into it! Little while later, he walks up to Keith, introduces himself, and asks if it was OK if he stayed a little while to listen. Keith agreed, and asked the gentleman to introduce himself to the kids. Hello. My name is Dontae Winslow, Im the lead trumpet player for Justin Timberlakes 20/20 World tour. Were playing here in San Antonio. I was in the building giving a radio Interview on SAs Jazz station, and heard some great sounds, and thought Id come hear what was going on. He was very gracious and complimented the great teaching and pedagogy and gave a little background of his beginning in a marching band and training as a classical musican, getting scholarships for his bachelors and masters degrees.
