Born on this day in 1946, Cynthia Robinson, vocals, Sly and The Family Stone A true pioneer she is notable for being one of the first black and female trumpet players in a major American band Robinson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Sly and the Family Stone. Sly and the Family stone stones music was categorized as Black Psychedelic Music - even though the band was made up of women and men, black, white, and hispanic.
