Ready for the race? Part 3 3. Start the race Hebrews 12:1 Therefore...let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles us, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Knowing our current position is not enough. Knowing our desired destination is not enough. Dreaming, hoping, wishing will not get us anywhere, its imperative that we move, that we start the race. Sometimes were at the right place at the right time with all the right conditions, with the road marked out for us and we simply refuse to take the first step. We dont feel ready. Were paralyzed by the excuses, by the fear, by the insecurities, by the failures and disappointments of the past, by the longings for a carefree but careless life left behind. Many of us are not willing to pay the price, to sacrifice our comfort and selfish will, we prefer the wide road instead of the narrow. We carry heavy loads and burdens that we simply wont surrender because weve grown used and attached to them but they will not let us advance. Every runner knows to wear the right gear for the race, nothing heavy, nothing uncomfortable, appropriate for the weather, etc. So if were gonna make it to our destination its about time we get rid of all the unnecessary weight and hindrances and get to moving! Start the race! Even if you have to pace yourself, even if you need to take baby steps, even if you cant catch up to everyone else, if your process is slower and longer than those around you; dont hesitate any longer and get started!
