Real cave diving science! Fossilized wood in Ressel - Lac des Blocs A little while ago, Pedro Balordi noticed fossilized wood lodged in lime stone in the Lac des Blocs in Ressel. After due consultation, it was decided to take samples for further analysis. Michael Höttl and Pedro Balordi executed a dive to the Lac des Blocs on Saturday, November 1st, 2014, to take samples of the fossilized wood. In the evening, we took the bag holding the samples and water taken at the Lac de Blocs (in order to preserve the natural climate as much as possible), put it into an outer bag and sealed it. This morning (November, 2nd), I took the package to Thierry Pelissie, who will forward the package to the Muséum National dHistoire Naturel (The National Museum for Natural History) in Paris for further analysis (mnhn.fr/fr).
