Really disturbing news via Sanjay Kaushal: Be advised...if you are visiting Periyar Hostel without ID card and a known friend in Periyar to immidiately call to, You might get looked upon as a thief, might have to go under an inquiry, and if u panic and say anything false or wrong, you might get beaten up by several students who consider themselves no less than legal authorities and Judges. Today, 2 boys, who were caught one by one, were tortured, humiliated, beaten up, and then were ultimately allowed to go after identity varifications through documents and their friends. Some students dont choose to stay alert and be careful about their rooms and stuffs, they would directly convict any suspecious person and beat him up. There is no presumption of innocence. So be advised...residents here are as overprotective as they are careless and ignorant. JNU is becoming more and more unrecognizable everyday. And that is NOT old-timer nostalgia!
