Really enjoyed touring Sun Studio in Memphis today - literally stood in the room where Elvis made this recording of Thats Alright Mama and accidentally started rock n roll. Then went over to Elvis Presleys Graceland, which was a much more modest house than I imagined. The grounds are impressive. And I had no idea what a great humanitarian he was (particularly in Tennessee), how many hundreds of awards he won (for record sales, etc.) and that he made 31 movies, all of which made money! Plus, the interactive iPad tour is pretty awesome! By the end, at his gravesite, it was hard not to feel a bit sad. Only 42, yet he did so much with his time. What a helluva human being! Never stopped reinventing himself and having fun. Really eager to watch the Thats The Way It Is documentary, filmed in 1970 leading up to his anticipated Vegas season.
