Really interesting. One of the things Ive noticed as I traveled is that development seems to be synonymous with the shunning of ones self. This also transfers to upward mobility in which the most upwardly minorities are often ones who have left the most obvious parts of their cultural upbringing behind. The silver lining is that among millennials in the US and also in emerging markets there seems to be a new generation that sees their minority status or abroad their cultural innovations as new keys to success that should be an integral part of development or achievement.
