Really looking forward to you guys hitting the coast in June. Just thought we would put up a few snippets that might help. No particular order, just things as they come to mind. 1. It is the law in Spain to carry your passport around with you at all times so it would save you a lot of hassle and worry if you get a photocopy and laminate it before coming. This is acceptable if you need to show identity and saves you carrying your actual passport. 2. Our water is totally safe to drink, it has to comply with EC regulations…have been drinking it for 10 years and had no adverse reaction. 3. Beaches in Benalmadena and Torremolinos are all safe for swimming, although local laws say that you are not allowed to lie on the beach in Benalmadena before 10am. This is to allow the beach to be cleaned..You can swim in the sea before 10am and walk on the beach though. 4. Sunscreens and tanning products are best bought locally as they are tailor-made for the mediterranean sun. 5. Shampoo, conditioner etc are also best bought locally, again they are suited to our water (which is very hard) and they are cheap. Beach towels are also very cheap and plentiful. Hotels provide towels for the rooms but not for the beach or pool. 6. Hottest time of the day is 2-4pm…not noon 7, Pubic transport is excellent with frequent bus and train all along the coast. It is also very cheap. 8. Hotels do not generally supply tea and coffee facilities in rooms so if you need that early morning cuppa before breakfast then you might want to bring a travel kettle or mini element. 9. The cost of a taxi from the airport is around 25€. You can take a train directly from the airport to Arroyo de la Miel, cost around 2€ then a taxi to the hotel…cost around 5€. The train station is now part of the airport. Always ask the cost of a taxi before getting into the car. 10. You are not allowed to swim in the marina…..just in case anyone gets the notion after a few pints haha….the fine is 2000€ I will post up anything else that comes to mind. Please feel free to ask anything at all and we will do our very best to help. Roll on June !!!!! Dave and Caroline Humphrey
