Reasons why I like World War-2 movies and historical documentaries (applicable to things that happen in real life as well).....My personal favourite is point 1, 2 and 3. 1. Onboard a ship or a base in main land. When a killed soldier/seamen/sailors mortal remains are to be buried in land or sea, a ceremony is carried out with the captain or senior ranking officer talking about the departed soul, while others stand at attention with squared shoulders. Then the formalities are done. No paid media, no press and maybe no recordings too. But right things are done with respect, even when nobody is watching. This is what discipline means - to do the right thing even when the world isnt watching. 2. Music ! Orchestra does a good job. With all trumpets + Saxophones + Kettle Drums, it creates the environment !! Musicians play a huge role. 3. Uniforms & Insignias - Neatly pressed uniforms worn by actors playing the role of Generals. Medals + Insignias + Coat of arms everything is accurately portrayed. 4. Planning, Implementation & Team work is awesome both in movies and in real life as well - thats what Defence is all about, unlike Indian Corporate life, where one gets a new branded watch and quickly goes to the desk of another guy and says I bought this and in subsequent conversations gives no respect to other human being because he has something and the other dumb poor guy has nothing worth in his life. 4. Both in reality and as well in movies, there is a strong good sense of dressing. A dressing sense that would do the talking - it talks about discipline, maturity, honesty, valor. 5. A is Alpha, B-Bravo , K-Kilo, L-Lima, Y- Yankee .... phonetics!! 6. All official letters carry an official letterhead with emblems and presented well. 7. All borders, archs, demarcations are neatly marked in maps. Maps + Compasses + Identity cards! 8. Most importantly, there is no bullshit in WW-2 movies.
