Recall leader, burglary and mail theft victim, seeks protection KNUFFKE: IM NOT SAFE IN HUACHUCA CITY - Contacts all local, state law enforcement, and FBI - Cites history of HCPD police abuse, specifically Chief Grey ======= Tucson Weekly article [1996] refers to Huachuca City police: in one of the most outrageous abuses of police power in Arizona history. tucsonweekly/tw/03-07-96/curr2.htm ======= Shelley Knuffke, who last year obtained Injunctions against Harrassment against Huachuca City Mayor Ken Taylor and his wife Rena, and subsequently started a recall effort to force Taylor to step aside or stand for re-election, says she is not safe in Huachuca City, and maybe not in Cochise County. Knuffke e-mailed all of the top law enforcement persons in the county, and included the FBI and AZ Attorney General [Criminal Division]. Knuffke says her recent experiences with HCPD officer Thompson have further convinced her that she is not safe, that the police cannot be trusted. Knuffke has reported her mail stolen [notably court documents related to her battles with the Taylors], her dog killed [by poisoning], her home [shared with life-long HC resident Brad Colwell] broken into several times with unusual items [files, computer storage] taken . Knuffke says her insurance company, who she has paid for 20 years, says the HCPD police reports are are unavailable or insufficient. The Tucson-based insurance claims investigator says she suspicious because of whats shes heard from, and cant get from, the HC Police Dept. Knuffke says a copy of a police report she finally received yesterday was full of inaccuracies. Knuffke says she and boyfriend Brad are being confronted by people who ask if its true that Mayor Taylor rescued her from a life of prostitution in Nevada, and other preposterous rumors. Shelley Knuffke, a widow, moved from Tucson 2 years ago. She has a General Contractors license and is a qualified building inspector. She currently works with a doctor in Tucson. She denies any criminal history whatsover. Knuffke notes that Dennis Grey was the police chief 18 years ago when the AZ Attorney General said they didnt prosecute HCPD officers because of the abysmal status of certain case files and accounting procedures. The total lack of control exercised by the Police Department, in particular Chief of Police Dennis Grey, combined with the inability of the two officers assigned to follow accepted police procedures, created a monster.... tucsonweekly/tw/03-07-96/curr2.htm And, notes Knuffke, Dennis Grey is the Huachuca City Police Chief today. ======
