Received a call from a stranger. He got my number from a good - TopicsExpress

Received a call from a stranger. He got my number from a good friend of mine. The intention is to interview me and feature me in his upcoming book. Firstly, my friend forgotten to inform me about this. Secondly, I asked what does he know about my business and background profile. He said he knows nothing except I am a business owner stated by my friend. And his book (first book) is about starting business with little resources. I asked him 3 questions; 1. How can he select someone for interview without checking their background? He remained silent. 2. What value is he adding to his readers if he did not screen through his candidates? He remained silent. 3. What value does he add to the business owners that he interview? His reply, I will quote you and your company at the end of the interview and this help to give your company more exposure. My reply, Thank you for the kind thought. I think you gain more value than the interviewees. He remained silent. Key Lessons: 1. Send an sms and ask for permission to call first. 2. ASK instead of talking about your idea. This will help you to find out what value you can add to that person you want to work with. 3. While its powerful to apply Leverage using others people life experiences and knowledge, please ensure you put Add Value as first priority first rather than Leverage and Shortcuts I acknowledge his courage to start this project and I rejected the request.
