Received this in my e-mail today from MATI - Midwest Assoc. of Translators and Interpreters: MetaPhrasis Language & Cultural Solutions, LLC, in Chicago, is accepting registrations for a 40-hour training course in legal interpreting. Classes begin on April 8 and continue through April 26. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 pm to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm This training is for bilingual professionals who wish to explore the field of legal interpreting. According to the MetaPhrasis flyer: Learn the fundamentals of interpreting as a profession, including an overview of basic concepts and hands-on introduction to the three modes of interpreting used in the legal field: simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, and sight translation. The course covers legal interpreting, basic knowledge of the legal system, legal terminology, and the interpreters role in different legal settings.
