“Receiving God’s Peace” Php 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Taking everything to God in prayer and caring or being anxious about nothing gives us relief from a few things. Giving it to Him allows us to release to God what is bothering us, who has the power to do something about it. As we continue to give our burdens to the Lord – Matthew 11:28-30, we rely upon Jehovah God to replace the burdens with blessings. Those blessings come in the form of rejoicing – vs. 4, peace from God that passes all understanding from our standpoint and the worlds. The blessings keep coming with proper thinking – vs. 8. It is very trying at times not to go back and think about our hurt, stinkin thinking or have a pity party but God is faithful to deliver us from these times with properly thinking these truths listed in vs. 8. Paul learned that the things of this earth would not clog his mind if something else was in there to help his thought processes. So we too can be assured of having the joy and peace of mind that passes all human compression when we think on these things. The song, “What A Friend”, comes to mind. “What a friend we have in Jesus, O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer! Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged, Take it to the Lord in prayer, Can we find a friend so faithful? Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness, Take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy laden, Cumbered with the load of care? Precious Saviour, still our refuge, Take it to the Lord in prayer, Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer, in His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there”. These words from this favorite song will put our prayer life in proper perspective. Take all things to the Lord in prayer. Then we can sing, “I got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, Where? Down in my heart, Where? Down in my heart, I got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, Where? Down in my heart to stay”. Just Pray!
