Receiving Heart The Lord said in, Matthew 1:20 …an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream We all have dreams. Most of us do not remember most of what we dream. Most of us discount what we dream about by thinking our dreams are just mental gibberish making no sense. Because Joseph was a mighty man of faith, God decided to help Joseph remember his dream. We are not certain why God used a dream to communicate with Joseph or why God used an angel in the dream. Perhaps the use of a dream and an angel in the dream was the best way to get Gods message across to Joseph. In our hindsight, we can say Gods method of communication worked perfectly in the life of Mary and Joseph. In your life, God may not use a dream to communicate to you. In your life, God may simply touch your heart and ask you to listen to His still small voice within you. However, the medium and the method God will use or has used in your life is not as important as the message He sends. How God communicates to you is not as important as your faith in receiving His message. God can send the most important message of your life to you but without an open heart in faith and an open heart to His love, you may never fully receive or understand the message. Before the dream sequence, Josephs heart was open and probably breaking over hearing Mary was expecting a child out of wedlock, for Joseph loved Mary. However, Josephs mind was open enough to the workings of God our faithful Joseph could believe God worked in the life of a person in the form of a dream. No doubt, Joseph wanted to believe the story of the Immaculate Conception. In your life, when your mind and heart are open to receiving wisdom and the love of God, then God will work in you and through you just as God worked in and through Joseph. Pastor Rubin Wilson
