Recent Views: Jessabelle-* One of the absolute worst piece of shit attempts at horror cinema in recent memory despite a good performance from lead Sarah Snook. Garbage, avoid at all costs! Locke-**** One of the years most overlooked performances! The film takes place entirely in a car at night. Tom Hardy(best known as Bane in Dark Knight Rises) gives a tour de force performance as Ivan locke, a man at a crossroads. His personal & professional life are crumbling down in the course of a nights drive on the freeway as a barrage of phone calls continue to escalate the damage. Brave filmmaking as the camera stays on him for the entire 84 minute runtime. Kudos to first time director Steven Knight for trusting his actor to do all the work. A guy driving a car, talking on the phone for an hour and a half may not sound appealing but trust me its worth the ride. The Grand Budapest Hotel-*** While I thoroughly enjoyed Wes Andersons zany madcap tale, I think it lacks the touch of his finest work (Rushmore,The Royal Tennenbaums). Im glad hes finally pushed through in major awards categories with the film garnering him Best picture, Director and Screenwriting Oscar nominations. The film lacks any emotion or any truly likeable characters but manages to succeed with humor and pace. A tad overrated.
