Recently I had the very emotional experience of presenting a portrait I did for a 13 year old boy of his rescued Bulldog, Izzy, who had passed away 2 years ago. Izzy was so loved by Kai that when she passed away he was inspired to use his birthday to raise money for a pitbull rescue. He raised over $1000! He continued his tradition this year and raised over $700 for our local shelter where I am a volunteer. He plans to do this every year, choosing a different rescue each year. I was so touched by his dedication and selflessness at his young age that I was moved to make him a portrait of his beloved Izzy. I knew it would be hard for him and for me, but I really wanted to do something. Well here we are- as you can see we were both very emotional. I still get teary thinking about it!
