Recently, Ive been trying to pay attention to the things I am thankful for in my life, because the universe loves gratitude and it just feels really good to sit down and think about all the things that are good in your life and take some time to reflect on them. I talk about Ben a lot, probably too much, but thats just because I love him so much, and while Im getting older, its easier and quite astonishing to see how fragile life is and how we should embrace everything we love. So without further adieu, here are 25 random things I love about my boyfriend, and I encourage anyone else to do this about your girlfriend/boyfriend/parent/job etc!: 1. He always holds he door open for me wherever we go. In no way am I old fashion, but that gesture is something he has been doing since the beginning that I love. 2. We carpool together to and from our places of work, and he always starts the car before I go outside. He also used to do this when we lived in a 13 story apartment building, on the 13th floor, in the middle of ice storms. 3. Back rubs. 4. No matter what time of the day/night or what side of the room he is on, or EVEN if he is already in bed, if I ask him to turn out the lights or get me a glass of water, he does, grudgingly so sometimes, but he still does. 5. Every time we go out to eat he pays the bill, even if I offer to pay. 6. Opens/carries all of the things that I cannot. 7. No matter how bad our fights can be, he is hugging me at even a hint of a tear. Im someone who cries when I get frustrated or angry, so this isnt a ploy for sympathy in most cases, but no matter what he just ceases the argument and hugs me. 8. He will randomly say thank you all the time. I always ask him why hes thanking me and he says just for everything. 9. Im definitely not a chef, but when I get random bursts of wanting to try out new recipes, he will always at least try them and say that theyre good when theyre not good at all. 10. He is educated on what is going on in the world, and most of our conversations are about current issues. I love his non-biased stance on most things, waiting to make a decision until all facts are in, and his ability to see something from all sides. 11. He knows how to give me space when I need it, without making me feel guilty. 12. He always says I look beautiful, even when I have food poisoning from bad sushi and my head is stuck in the toilet for eight hours. 13. We can have a conversation about our future together, no matter how off it probably is, its still so important to me to be able to discuss the possibility of children and marriage with ease. 14. We discuss how we want to raise our kids and come to agreements even though we are nowhere near close to having them in our near future (we love sleeping in a little too much). 15. He remembers details about me, and remembers everything I say. Sometimes this bites me in the ass, but he still remembers. 16. He is compassionate about the good of the world, and of everyone. 17. He tells me the truth and doesnt sugarcoat things, but does so in a respectful way. I need someone who will tell me the truth and never lie to me no matter how harsh it might be, without being a straight up dick. I can accept that I am wrong about things and I need someone to tell me when I am. 18. He is very knowledgeable about pop-culture. This is a great balance in our relationship as I know nothing about current trends. 19. His spiritual/out-there side. If its political, religious, or anything of the like, you can bet we will probably argue about it, but UFOs, the Universe, or life on other planets? We will agree on this endlessly. 20. How our core values line up perfectly. Coming from different backgrounds we have a lot of different interests, views, and ways of dealing with things, but what we want out of life and our future goals are synchronized. 21. Loving me for who I am and reminding me how great I am no matter how harsh my inner voice can be at times. 22. Our sense of humor. Were really dumb sometimes, and we think its hilarious. 23. His complete lack of embarrassment. Ben could walk around naked publicly and not even bat an eye. He is constantly inspiring me not to be so afraid of what other people think and just live. 24. How safe I feel around him, and how he truly respects women. 25. Being my best friend, through thick and thin, ugly and pretty, extremely good and terribly bad, he is there for me through and through, and I am so lucky I get to love him every day.
