Recently discovered and released by Library of Congress-- nitrate film in immaculate condition of the 1924 Washington Senator-New York Giants World Series Game 7 wild finish in extra innings, complete with President Coolidge--looking silent as ever when he tips his cap to the camera, HOFer SP Walter The Big Train Johnson pitching the final 4 innings to collect the win, fellow HOFer 2B Bucky Harris early HR--who also hit the 2 out, 2 run game-tying single in the 8th--and Earl McNeelys game winning single over HOF (and, in 1924, rookie) 3B Freddie Lindstroms glove driving in C Muddy Ruel. Of note: The film depicts Walter Johnsons unique sidearm delivery fastball, that study from other film suggests he threw around 93-94 mph. Frightening for a RH batter to see that coming from 3rd base from the 6 1 Johnson--huge for the time, as the average enlisted American WWI vet stood only 5 4 (WWI American officers averaged 5 11, a testament to the vast differences in diet in the era). Amazing condition for a 90 year old nitrate film. youtube/watch?v=b2AN9IDDLqg
