Recently in both Helensvale and Riverdowns contract road crews have been undertaking minor repair works to the road surface. Not every resident is happy with the outcome (graffiti on the roads has been one comment received), but this type of work is designed not for aesthetic beauty but to extend the life of the road and delay the need for resurfacing or milling (and is certainly the cheapest option). Bitumen and water do not go well together and minor reseals, and even secondary resealing again after several years of additional wear, is what is recommended action for the 3,500km road network under the City of Gold Coast care to prevent potholes occurring.
