Red Flag Alert – Fraudsters Disguising as Department of Labour Officials – The Risk Management Unit of the Department of Labour (DoL) has identified the need to alert and warn the officials, businesses and the public about the impersonation of DoL Inspection IES Inspectors/officials by some fraudsters selling charts and posters on labour legislation. These charts and posters relate to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA); the Labour Relations Act (LRA), and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) at a price ranging from R500 to R1500. These fraudsters go about forcing employers to buy the charts and threatening them that failure to do so; inspectors will be dispatched to the place of employment/business; to close down the business, however this is not true.
