Ref: Suspicious male taken into protective custody. At about 1915 hours Officers from the Coeur d’Alene Police Department responded to the area of Lowe’s on the 900 block of Appleway Ave concerning a suspicious male. The first officer on scene located the male just east of Lowe’s on Appleway. When the officer made contact the male pulled out a knife and held it to his own throat. Other officers arrived within minutes. After repeated commands to drop the knife the male refused and walked away from the officers and towards an open business with patrons inside. At this time less lethal munitions was deployed. The male dropped the knife and was subsequently placed into protective custody. The male was transported to Kootenai Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries to his neck.
