Reflecting back on 2014, it has been a great year. Both of my grand children got the opportunity of a lifetime and headed off to Ridley College where they are pursuing both their academic and sports (Cole hockey, Cassidy rowing) careers. Although we miss them terribly it is so great to see them excelling and growing. Both of them are doing extremely well, as I knew they would. Cass just received an 94% in law and Cole got a 100% in physics, not bad for two country kids just going to the big city. I couldn’t be more proud of them, I have to brag a little because they sure won’t, they are both so humble. It is gratifying to see what a good work ethic and determination can accomplish, and all this at only 16 years old. My son and daughter-in-law have done an outstanding job of raising 2 great children. The farm has also had a great year, lots of outstanding kids have gone to new homes across Canada. This year we had 99% color in our kids, and the quality has been exceptional. I decided to take our breeding program to the next level this summer when I imported a new 6 month old buck “Max Boer Goats The Mogul”. He is outstanding and I can’t wait for spring to see his first kids. The demand for Colored Boer Goats has grown even faster than I could have hoped for in Canada, I just hope we do not end up making the same mistake they did in the USA with the colored boers, and registering everything with color regardless of the quality. I am determined to promote and sell only quality kids and hopefully others that are now breeding color will do the same thing. Remember color alone does not make a good goat. I will have approximately 60 does kidding in the spring of 2015, about 20 of them will be bred to Mogul, the rest are split between Easy Money and Coal N Cotton. I think 2015 will be the best year so far, can’t wait. “Happy New Year to All”
