Reflecting back on 9/11. I was at a Prevention Conference in Minot, ND. During one of the breaks we received the news of the Twin Towers, Pentagon and Plane taken out by terrorists. Our grandsons father (Mike) worked at the Pentagon, our other two children were Army and Air Force and both away at the time. The Lord took care of Mike that day as one of the boys was sick and he had to stay home with him. However; I did not know that at the time. Mike worked in the section of the basement at the Pentagon that was hit. Panic in my heart and a fear that I never want to have again. For some reason I felt that I needed to call Mike at home and when he answered he didnt even know anything had happened. During the conference one of our presenters (a doctor/Air Force Pilot) came dressed in his flight suit waiting for the call to give him orders to go and help. Seeing him in uniform and the anxiousness in the room was unnerving. I think the hardest thing for me that day was being away from family. I couldnt get home fast enough. I just wanted to see them and know they were ok. It was the longest two hour drive Ive ever had. I cant fathom how the loved ones of those who lost their lives that day got/get through the heartache from that horrific act. I was worried today, with all the unrest in our world, that we may experience yet another terrifying attack. We need to continue our prayer for peace and faith that we will succeed.
