Regarding last nights game of football, played in Pullman - TopicsExpress

Regarding last nights game of football, played in Pullman Washington: Washington State was a highly regarded team coming in to the season with expectations of another bowl appearance. They had a rough start in a couple of games, but the team on the field last night lived up to the preseason hype. Anyone who has watched Oregon and Wazzu play over the last several years knows that Wazzu has been gaining ground on Oregon, with each game more competitive than the last. I almost punched my TV when the announcers acted surprised that the game was tied at the half. It was the same thing last year when the game was played at Autzen. No one should be surprised it was a tight game. Also, no one should be yapping about officiating. Yes, there was a bad no call PI late which would have given Wazzu a chance to extend a drive and, potentially, tie the game. However, Wazzu got away with three no-calls on pick plays earlier in the game which lead to scores. Stall one, two or all three of those drives with a flag and the PI is a nonevent. Like they say - bad officiating usually evens itself out by the end of the game. Hats off to Washington State for a heckuva game. And kudos to the Ducks for battling through a tight game in a hostile environment to get a win.
