Regarding the fatal incident, the pedestrian was hit by a L plater without being with a full licensed driver, a family ruined with 2 children and a wife. Fatal pedestrian collision - Appin Monday, 28 July 2014 11:22:53 AM Police investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in the Macarthur Region have charged a man with being an unaccompanied learner driver. About 7.30pm on Sunday 27 July 2014, emergency services were called to Wilton Road, Appin, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car. On arrival officers from Campbelltown Local Area Command found a 40-year-old Rockdale man had been hit by a Subaru Liberty in the southbound lane of Wilton Road and died at the scene. The driver of the Subaru, a 47-year-old man, was uninjured and was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing. A crime scene was established and an investigation was commenced by officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit. The driver was later issued with field court attendance notices for being an unaccompanied learner and not comply with licence conditions. His licence was also suspended and the Subaru Liberty was seized for further mechanical examination. The man is expected to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on 18 August 2014. Investigators would still like to speak to any witnesses to the collision and have urged them to come forward. Investigators will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
