"Regardless of what one lumps into the group of things we call bugs and how strongly many of us are inclined to kill nearly all of them on sight, whether that means a well-placed swat with the fly swatter, stomp with the sole of a boot or dose with a fog of chemicals, only about 3 percent are actually harmful, according to Brian Kunkel, an entomologist with University of Delaware Cooperative Extension. The rest are either neutral or beneficial because of their pollinating nature or their penchant for eating pest insects."
