Regular activities at Woodbridge Library: The 2014 Summer - TopicsExpress

Regular activities at Woodbridge Library: The 2014 Summer Reading Challenge continues! The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to read six books during the long summer holiday. This year’s theme is Mythical Maze. It challenges children aged four to eleven to find their way around a labyrinth that introduces them to fantastical creatures from the world of legend and mythology, collecting stickers of each character along the way. ArtLib This month’s exhibition is of paintings and artwork produced by pupils of Melton Primary School. Come and be inspired by what the younger generation can do! ‘Booked Out’ on Deben Radio is the book and film review show hosted by Woodbridge Library staff. Last month the theme was “Non-fiction”. This month on the show, to tie in with the Summer Reading Challenge, everyone will be talking about books for children. If you’d like to get involved, come on the show and talk about a book or film you’ve borrowed, or have a suggestion for a future theme, please contact the library or leave a comment on our Facebook page. Caroline Page, County Councillor for Woodbridge will not be holding her surgery at the library this month. Golden Age Book Group (Meets the first Thursday of the month at 2pm) On the 7th August we will be discussing “Summertime” by J. M. Coetzee. This group is led by a member of staff. Please come along if you have read this title and would like to join in the discussion. Writers’ Workshop (Meets twice a month on Tuesdays at 5.30pm) If you like to write for pleasure, you love words and you have imagination, have you thought of joining Writers’ Workshop at Woodbridge Library? The group does homework” on one fortnight and structure (plot, characterisation etc) on the other. Homework/own choice of work is reviewed by the group who give positive not negative feedback and word exercises are tackled if time allows. You can attend one or both sessions but it is not a “course” – you are not taught to write. The Workshop is free. Interested? Please email Jeannie@butterwicks to open doors to creative writing. Woodbridge Novelists Group (Meets on alternate Wednesdays from 10am – 12) This group, for committed writers aiming to be published, is looking to recruit an extra member. It aims to provide friendly feedback on members writing and explore topics related to creative writing and publication. If you are interested please contact Jeff Taylor by email at novelistswritinggroup@gmail
