Reinforce – vb. 1. to strengthen (a group of people) with new supplies or more people 2. to strengthen (something, such as clothing or a building) by adding more material for support 3. to encourage or give support to (Merriam Webster online) The Lord keeps telling me He is bringing us His reinforcements. As we are on the battlefield, we can become weary and hungry and discouraged. He is bringing us what we need to persevere in faith and hope and carry on to victory! He is reinforcing His truth by daily sending us His word. He is sending confirmations and remembrances of words He has spoken to us and giving us fresh, new truths from Scripture to strengthen, encourage and re-energize us and give us focus! This is more “material” and food to nourish us (Lk. 11:3, Mt. 4:4). Another function of His word He sends is to heal us of wounds we may have received (Ps. 107:20). He is sending us people to surround and uphold us. In the same way that Aaron and Hur supported Moses’ arms, He is sending others in the body of Christ to give us help and support and allowing us to help and support others (Ex. 17:11-13, Ps. 54:4). We are with one another as we walk along the way so that whether we turn to the right or to the left, we hear His truth and voice, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” (Is. 30:21). He is putting people around us to help us and give godly counsel so that we are not led astray by the enemy and his lies, schemes and deceptions (Pr. 13:20 & 15:22). The light shines brighter and brighter and the darkness must flee as we live closely together in unity, truth and love (Ps. 122:3, Pr. 4:18, Jn. 1:5, Ro. 14:12). The Lord is reinforcing the structure of the Temple of God, His holy Church. Just as you put steel rods within the structure of a building to reinforce it, He is putting great strength within each of us as He fills us with and raises us up in the power of the Holy Spirit under the headship of Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:19-23)! He is also connecting us to each other through the strength and power of the Spirit. This is a bond that no one can break. We are all being made ONE in Him – into His holy Church, His spotless bride, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against us (Eph. 4:2-6, Matt. 16:18-19). Hallelujah! He is sending His holy army of angels as reinforcements. Just as Elisha’s servant’s eyes were opened to the army of angels around him who would fight and ensure the victory in the battle (2 Kings 6:16-17), the Lord is opening our eyes to the forces in the heavenly realms that are on our side and that we are in unity with as we stand firmly on, for and in our Lord Jesus, who we are seated with in the heavenly realms (Eph. 2:6 & 6:10-18). He is also sending angels as messengers (Dan. 10:12) and as ministers, to strengthen us (Lk. 22:43, Heb. 1:14). The Lord is giving us more dreams, prophecies and visions as His Spirit pours out on us from heaven. These things are given to us to teach, guide and encourage us and reveal His heavenly wisdom and plan. The Lord confides in those He loves and who fear His name! What a gracious, loving God we serve!!
