Relationship is not possible between two people unless they both covenant to keep the relationship. Why? because Love is not simple. There are so many variables in love - mutual respect, acceptance, justice, forgiveness, flexibility, adaptability, understanding (i.e. understanding the nuances of the other persons language) distinctive personalities, identity, humility, giving, serving (considering the other persons needs), Love can not be forced or demanded. Its the matter of the heart (the will of course), and as we know the heart warms slowly. Right conditions build love - right attitudes, right actions, right words ...however small they are...they help build love. I can not just demand love from my wife, unless ive invested first. Love is like keeping money in the bank. You can only take out as much as you put in. If you keep taking out your money without depositing in between, one day your cheque will bounce. Or your ATM screen will read Not enough money in your account. You are bankrupt. And there is so much bankruptcy around as far as love is concerned. The simple thing we overlook is investing into a relationship. So help us Lord to make the right investments!
