Relationships of any kind require respect, consideration, understanding and sacrifice. Relationships require work from everyone involved, we should not expect others to do the work while we only reap the benefits. Many of us sabotage the most important relationships in our lives because we have confused love and commitment with selfishness and entitlement. When we love someone, we willingly sacrifice for them. When we love someone, we should always be concerned about our how our words, actions, or lack thereof affect them. When we love someone and our relationships with them matters to us, it becomes our responsibility to conduct ourselves in a manner that depicts our sentiments. Many of us dont understand the requirements for having healthy, thriving relationships because we have convinced ourselves that the world revolves only around us and we are the only important people in it. We must all understand the need to stop expecting for others to bend over backwards for us, go out of their way for us, be considerate of how we feel, be compassionate and understanding, show us love even when we are unloving and unappreciative, while we fail to reciprocate even remotely close to the same.(Romans 15:1-2)T.
