Relaxed 26.5 Mile Morning Run Along the San Joaquin River How - TopicsExpress

Relaxed 26.5 Mile Morning Run Along the San Joaquin River How nice is it to follow the dirt trails meandering along this river streaming down from the Sierras, on a hot and sunny Saturday morning. After the initial few miles, the mind calms down and the body starts moving with innate rhythm until my whole being has become fluid breath in motion. My mantra was be relaxed, run effortless, and so it played out. Stats: - total time: 4:18 hrs (4:15 Marathon Split) - total vertical: 1,050 ft - min/mile avg: 9:46 - avg cadence: 174 - fluids: 40oz water (2x 20z handheld bottle) - fuel: 2 tablespoons CocoHydro electrolytes - splashing river water on face and upper body: multiple times - temperature: 75 to start; 95 to finish (88 avg) Gear: - Luna Sandals (Mono) - Compression Shorts (prevent chafing) - Shorts - Run Happy Cap - Kitchen Sponge (under hat) - Amphipod 20oz Handheld water bottle Run Evaluation: - next time: a bit more fuel (only drank water the first half of the run) - could have easily drank 2x as much - towards the end, soles of feet a bit sore and hips a bit fatigued - negative splits each 1/4 section of the run going faster towards the end - took me over 100 miles for the week since Monday as part of base building - very few other people on the trails (ran into one other runner)
