Release Those in Prison because of Barotseland Agreement Dear Brothers and Sisters, In few days time we will be celebrating the golden jubilee of our Country Zambia. It is a historical fact beyond reasonable doubt that Zambia is a Unitary State, formed by the union of two territories, namely Northern Rhodesia and Barosteland. History teaches us that Sir Duncan Sandys on behalf of Her Majesty’s Government-United Kingdom, Sir Mwanawina Lewanika on behalf of the Barotseland Royal Establishment and Dr. Kenneth Kaunda Prime Minister of Northern Rhodesia, signed the Agreement for fusion on the 18th May 1964. This agreement paved the way for the creation of the State of Zambia on the 24th October 1964. This beautiful history can never be erased, it needs to be embraced and made part of our patrimony as recommended by the people of “Western Province” during the provincial convention and also the many other commission of inquiries. The intention of the founding fathers was to create an environment where we could move together as one people. It was never foreseen that one day either part will arrest, jail, or even harm another because of this Agreement. Dialogue is a key in all things. With it you can achieve greatly. The Almighty God shows us this path, despite all that he is all powerful, almighty, when dealing with humanity he entered into dialogue with us through Jesus Christ our Saviour. For this reason I appeal to the government to release our brothers who are in prison in connection with the Barotseland Agreement of 1964. Their families and friends await their return. They miss them so much. To release them is an act of grace, preceding from the power entrusted with the execution of divine law which is rooted in truth and the constitution of the Republic of Zambia. In the laws of the land, the very current constitution of the Republic of Zambia does recognize and has, therefore provided for the pardoning power to be exercised as an act of grace and humanity in proper cases like the Barotseland Agreement of 1964. To celebrate the independence of our country Zambia without releasing our brothers will make the country to be the most imperfect and deficient in its political morality. It’s only the truth that sets us free. John 8:32. I am writing this as a concerned servant of God, he hears their cry in prison and he also hears the cry of their families and friends.
