Reliance Industries along with sports management company IMG is going to organize an IPL-style football league in India. This city-based league has been given the name- Indian Super League . The news of such soccer league excites the adrenalin gland of the football lovers as well as the celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, Sourav Ganguly. Mukesh Ambani and Rupert Murdoch have called the bids for nine cities i.e., Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Goa, Guwahati, Pune, Kochi. Eight cities will be selected. The base price of each team has been decided as Rs 120 crores for 10 years. The league was settled to take place at January of this year by AIFF but it has been postponed and now it is going to call for in India between September and November, favorably. Bollywood superstar King Khan openly showed his enthusiasm for buying a team in ISL, whereas a close friend of actor John Abraham said that this Bollywood hunk who is an immense soccer lover is eager for this tournament and wants to own a team also. Indian former skipper Sourav Ganguly is also seeking for the opportunity to buy a team. IMG-Reliance has posted an advertisement mentioning the details for buying teams in ISL, they said, “On a payment of a document fee of Rs. 5,00,000 in favor of ‘Football Sports Development Pvt. Ltd.’, the invitation to bid and the other bid related documents will be available at the registered office of FSDPL.” They added on the advertisement in national newspapers on Monday that, “The bidding parties must satisfy all the criterions and the other requirements to buy teams.” The other companies that show interests for buying teams are JSW Sports, Sports branch of Sajjan Jindal’s JSW Steels, Rhiti Sports owned by Arun Pandey, a close friend and business partner of Indian skipper M S Dhoni. Star India got mounted up with one- third portion of a company owned by Reliance Industries and IMG jointly, which will steer the football league. At the same time they earned the right of broadcasting for 10 years. Reliance-IMG will also concentrate on uplifting the infrastructure of many stadiums in cities those are chosen for the soccer tournament. Various stadiums are needed the replacement of pitches, improved dressing rooms and better sitting arrangements as India is going to host under-17 FIFA World Cup in 2017. Thus the improvements done by IMG-Reliance will definitely help and make the stadiums ready for the big war. The teams in ISL should contain 22 players, 10 out of them must come from overseas and 8 players must join from India whereas the remaining 4 players should be aged under 23 and from local areas. It has been seen that although, AIFF has arranged many competitions like Federation Cup, Nehru Cup, National Football League commonly known as I-League, but football could not get that much consideration and popularity which cricket gained. Now the time will show, if ISL can manage to regain the lost glory of football in India!
