Remember Champ? The Salt River wild stallion that rescued the filly from drowning? Well, Champ and his family need your assistance to prove their existence prior to the mid 1970s. youtube/watch?v=-SXbVw4qojg If you remember seeing the wild horses along the Salt River, the Verde River or in the Superstition Mountains prior to the mid 1970s then please send us a letter with your full name, address, phone number and your remembrances of the wild horses. Include information such as where you saw the horses, the approximate years you saw them, how often you saw them, were you tubing, camping or kayaking, etc. Please sign the letter and have it notarized so its authenticity is unquestionable. Champ and the other Salt River wild horses need this information in order for us to prove their history as wild horses and obtain protection for them under the Wild and Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971. Without this, they are classified as “strays,” “feral,” “trespass,” “excess,” or “unauthorized” livestock which are subject to removal. please send us an email at: saltriverwildhorses@gmail or please mail us a letter to: Salt River Wild Horses 5155 E.
