Remember how 9/11 caused a knee-jerk reaction by virtually everyone, and a united backing to give the government unprecedented legal right, to sidestep the constitution resulting in creation of the Patriot Act? That act removed the need for reasonable legal process to wiretap, search, survey, and DETAIN citizens indefinitely, with no due process and no trial, and is some cases, no reasonable suspicion, all in the name of safety and security. Its a civil rights disaster. Look how far the NSA and the Feds have come since then. Look at the domestic military (also known as our police), and what they are willing to do after swearing an oath to uphold the constitution and oh yeah To Protect and Serve (See Cop Block if unfamiliar) Im not fooled by the idea of government managed security. No one can guarantee my security or safety by creating restrictions or by giving government more control over my life and my possessions. In the midst of a major tragedy, people have these super emotional, knee jerk reactions, and want to immediately change laws, often sacrificing our rights for security. Im not buying it. Dont insult our intelligence by using a shitty situation to disarm the people, and prevent what historically has brought liberty... Revolution. The police cant provide 100% security or safety. They show up after an incident, and provide reactionary support, and we all appreciate those efforts. But they cant be there to prevent a gunman from shooting down a group of people. And a piece of paper, or a law, wont shield me from bullets or make it impossible for a nutcase to acquire a gun. Anything over a 0% crime rate shows us that laws dont prevent crimes from happening. They can only punish those that break them. I believe in the ability to defend myself and exercise some personal responsibility. Adam Kokesh Ben Swann Gavin McInnes what say you
