Remember my email to YAB Lim Guan Eng about the sorry state of upkeep of Penang International Airport? Got the following reply back from Malaysian Airport Board ... Do you think this is a satisfactory reponse? Dear Mr.KC, We thank you for your feedback on the development progress of Penang International Airport. We understand your concern and please allow us to walk you through the bits detailing of the flaws. For your kind information, Malaysia Airports is doing the housekeeping work on a weekly basis with the contractor to address the issues. All finishing works that were enlightened are also our concern are registered and administered under project defects’ list. The contractors is obliged to make good of the defects, failing which they are subjected to be penalized under the contract. Failing which, the management may consider appointing a third party contractor to make good all defects at the contractors cost. In addition we are also aware of the project wastes that were left at certain area at the airport and the contractor is also obliged to clear the waste, excess material and machineries at due course. In our planning for development of other areas, we have also included to ad-lib our look to a more tasteful landscape. We are looking at end of June 2013 for the completion of landscaping works overall, other than Car Park and Hotel area. These 2 areas will also be included in our next plan of development. Rest assured that all maintenance work is dynamic and progressing. Once again, we thank you for your patience in dealing with us and hope you find the reply sufficed.
