Remember to Love Do not hate your brother in your heart. Holy Bible NIV, Leviticus 19:7 Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. Holy Bible NIV, Leviticus 19:18 Do we ever find ourselves asking for more patience and understanding for our lives? Sometimes when we ask God for more love, kindness, or empathy, the circumstances for the realization of these spiritual qualities in our lives do not come in the form we had thought they may show up. Sometimes, the circumstances for spiritual transformation come in messy situations where we find ourselves quick to anger or easily finding fault with another. The relationship may be strained and on the brink of breaking. Tensions are high and each person in the relationship is drained. Possibly, we are in so much pain because of our ill feelings toward the other person that we are quick to react rather than respond from our souls. Ill feelings may build up and we may find that we hold a grudge towards the other person or we may plot sweet revenge. We may find ourselves wrestling with emotions of anger and frustration brought forth by this person or a situation gone wrong. In this reactive mode, we are far from acting in a spiritually sound manner. How do we correct and up-level ourselves? We remember to love. Often we get so caught up in finding fault with the other person or the situation that we disconnect ourselves from the power of God’s love. These messy situations are demanding that we dig deep within our souls to connect with unconditional love. When we are challenged with strong emotions of frustration, anger, and resentment, simply be aware of these emotions by stopping and breathing. In that moment of taking a breath, remember to love. This may be one of the most spiritual practices we embrace in our lives. Rather than acting on our negative emotions, we use them to remember to love. Affirmation: When I find myself feeling angry or upset towards others or situations in my life, I remember to love. I know these persons and situations call me to remember to love.
