Remember what I wrote after visiting the perrera? And remember what happened then when Leticia returned to the perrera and found her? Today I was sent these wonderful pictures, soon Lorena will go to her forever home. So tired… If only I could use a pencil the way I can use my camera. I would use a black pencil to show you the images I have seen, to draw the despair, the sadness and pain we witnessed. I would draw you the image of a beautiful brindle boy, handed in by his galguero in a place he will likely not leave alive. I would draw every rib, outlined because of a life without food. I would draw how he was standing in his corner, since the one blanket in his kennel was taken by the other galgos, who were also too tired to stay upright. I would draw the sores on his legs that made it too painful for him to lie down on the concrete floor. I would draw his eyes, that were closing down every few seconds while he was leaning into this wall, falling asleep while standing up. I would draw you the the tears that were going down my face knowing he was one of the ones we had to leave behind...
