#Remembering 30th anniversary of the miners strike - disgusted with the current leadership NUM towards Arthur Scargill with its continued #vendetta against the former miners leader. The National Union of Mineworkers (Great Britain) is threatening to sue its former leader Arthur Scargill for £100,000. The money was paid to cover legal bills run up by the International Energy and Miners Organisation (IEMO), of which #ArthurScargill is still president. The £100,000 in question was spent on recovering a loan to a former NUM official Roger Windsor for a loan of £29,500 (€35,482, $48, 530). One thing is for sure ...... Arthur was correct in 84/85 to call out the British Miners - Released cabinet papers from 10 Downing Street in 1984 reveal mineworkers union leader Arthur Scargill was right to claim there was a secret hit-list of more than 70 pits marked for #closure. Margaret Thatchers government and the National Coal Board said at the time they wanted to close 20. But documents reveal a plan to shut 75 mines over three years. The miners strike began in March 1984 and did not end until the next year. We salute those #miners & share the infamous Ewan MacColl documentary Daddy what did you do in the Strike - Ewan MacColl was the father of Kirsty MacColl.
