Remembering Alice Gentle on her birthday (b. June 30, 1885, Chatsworth, IL - d. February 28, 1958, Oakland, CA). Gentle had a distinguished career in grand opera, including her Metropolitan Opera debut as Preziosilla in the Met premiere of LA FORZA DEL DESTINO in 1918, with Enrico Caruso and Rosa Ponselle (also making her debut). The following year, she was the first Frugola in the world premiere of Puccinis IL TABARRO at the Met. She came to Hollywood in 1930 to make THE SONG OF THE FLAME, which is lost (soundtrack discs survive), and the notorious GOLDEN DAWN.
