Remembering JFK, 50th Anniversary, November 22, 2013 John F Kennedy, Born May 29, 1917 went on to serve as commander of PT-109 and PT-59 during World War II in the South Pacific. Kennedy later represented Massachusetts 11th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1947 to 1953 as a Democrat. Thereafter, he served in the U.S. Senate from 1953 until 1960. Kennedy defeated Vice President and Republican candidate Richard Nixon in the 1960 U.S. presidential election. At the age of 43, he was the youngest President to have been elected to office. While in office Kennedy showed the people what it was to be an American, and how to pull together to overcome hardships. He dreamed of an education for every child and equal rights for every American. He established Americas first space program leading the U.S. to the moon. He swore to put an end to war, and uphold the constitution. He gave the people a new hope for the future. On November 21, 1963 Kennedy started a political tour to Texas where he would ride through Dallas the next day greeting the spectators along the rout, making his way to a presidential dinner. Less than 10 miles from the start of the drive through Dallas history would be made, the President would meet his fate. On November 22, 1963 John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated. The United States House Select Committee on Assassinations concluded that the investigations of the assassination were flawed and Kennedy was most likely assassinated as the result of conspiracy. On this 22nd day of November 2013 lets not forget but remember the legacy of a man who sacrificed his life to make Americans everywhere a bit more free and a it more hopeful.
