Remembering Ollie (fundraiser for The Raptor Rescue - TopicsExpress

Remembering Ollie (fundraiser for The Raptor Rescue Society) The Raptors, Vancouver Island’s premier Flying Birds of Prey attraction, is located in Duncan in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Last week, one of their young barn owls, Ollie, was grabbed by a red-tailed hawk, causing irreparable damage to one of his legs. Ollie succumbed to his injuries a couple of days later, in spite of the heroic efforts of his handlers and veterinarians. Last year, I was fortunate to take some photos of Ollie during one of his flying demonstrations. I’ve been in touch with the staff at The Raptors and we’ve made an arrangement to have 50% of my portion of sales of those photos from my website, until April 30, 2014, donated to The Raptor Rescue Society - a non-profit they are involved with. The RRS is now permitted as a designated wildlife rehabilitation facility, so they can now start working towards their goal of a decent wildlife hospital for the Cowichan Valley (special emphasis on raptors). If you’d like to remember Ollie in this way, please click on the attachment. The photos you’ll be looking for are in the “Remembering Ollie” gallery.
