Remembering Our Fallen Deputy Fielding Applebury died on 12-17-1920 of a gun shot wound he received seven hours earlier when he was serving a warrant. Deputy Applebury received a warrant for the arrest of a man on the charge of disturbing the peace. Deputy Applebury went to the home of the man in a horse drawn buggy and located the man outside. He called out to the man: Come here, Ive got a warrant for you. The man replied, You aint going to take me no where. He then raised a shotgun and fired, striking Deputy Applebury in the stomach. The suspect then fled the location of foot. Deputy Applebury died from his wound seven hours later. Deputy Applebury had served with the agency for 15 years. He was survived by his wife and son.
