Remote Sensing, From orbit a camera or other imaginng system is ideally placed to record and monitor large areas of the Earth on a regular basis. Photography is still useful in that it can provide a high resolution record, but it is restricted to visible and near infrared wavelengths and requires return of the film to Earth. Images recorded in digitial form, not restricted to the photographic region of the spectrum, can be transmitted to a ground receiving station while the stellite contunues in orbit, computerised image processing techniques can reveal hidden structures within the data
