Renovations Rev Up Local Kia Dealership Hagerstown Kia has been proudly serving the community since 1990, and recently completed renovations to enhance the customer experience, both in shopping for a car and when coming in for service. “It’s been 10 years since we’ve done any major renovations,” says Sales Manager Jeff Appleby of the dealership, “so it needed a facelift. And we wanted to be one of the first Kia stores in Maryland to have the new look that Kia wants. A lot of dealerships aren’t doing it because of the cost, but we thought it was a big investment in the local community.” The showroom now boasts a clean, bright, modern feel, with nearly floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. “We’ve opened the floor plan up,” Jeff says. “We used to have partitions that kind of closed everything in. Now it’s wide open.” That spacious feeling flows into the lounge, which is now three times its previous size. In addition to comfortable leather armchairs, the lounge also features internet access, a flat-screen TV, beverage counter with Keurig coffee maker, and easy access to the service area. Plus, the restroom space has been doubled, with baby-changing stations added, too. “People like coming into a place that’s clean and neat and nice and new, and I think this offers all those things,” Jeff says. And, the expansion allows Hagerstown Kia to keep more vehicles in stock. “Kia’s given us more inventory, which is going to help customers find a better selection of cars,” Jeff says. “Hopefully they’ll find something they like here.” The upgrades extend to the service area, as well, beginning with an automatic door so customers can drive right into the service lane. “They don’t have to see the elements, which is really nice. They don’t have to get cold or rained on,” Jeff says. Hagerstown Kia invested in a state-of-the-art tire alignment machine and a Road Force tire and wheel balancing machine – “the best in the business,” Jeff says. These new technologies, coupled with additional service technicians, help customers get in and out quickly. And, Hagerstown Kia offers express and quick lube services, “so we can do oil changes while people wait,” Jeff says. Though Hagerstown Kia customers can see and enjoy these improvements now, the dealership is planning a grand-reopening celebration after the first of the year. “We want to invite all our customers from the past, people back that have done business with us for the past 20 years,” Jeff says. And as those long-time customers arrive to see the new building, they’ll be greeted by the familiar faces they’ve built relationships with over the years. “Most of our employees have been here for a long time,” says Jeff, who’s worked for the dealership for 24 years. “It’s much more of a family-type atmosphere. When people come back in to buy their second, or fourth, or 20th car, they see the same faces, and people like that.”
